Frequently Asked Questions
How long have Explore ADL been open?
In October 2023, Explore ADL opened its doors as a pilot program to a small group of individuals who thoroughly enjoyed what the program has to offer. The success of the program is what led to the decision of opening the program's doors permanently in October 2024. We are still a new program working on building a strong and sustainable program. We are asking for the patience of our families as we work hard to build the program for those we are committed to serving.
What are the dates and hours of operation?
Our hours of operation will run 4 days a week from 9:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Thursday.
Where is the program located?
Explore ADL is located at Trusted Parents corporate office 2459 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte NC 28208, which is a secure building requiring an access code to enter.
Do you offer respite/drop in?
No, not at this time... Explore ADL only provides community participation support for individuals on predetermined schedules. Meaning, all participants must go through our official enrollment process in order to attend our program.
What is the ratio?
We believe in quality of care oppose to quantity of participants, therefore as a brand new program, we are choosing to slowly increase enrollment. Our current ratio varies based on the level of support each individual requires and the individual program being offered. In most cases the ratio is 1:3. We do not offer 1:1 support. Please keep in mind space is limited for our program.
Who can attend Explore ADL?
Young adults 18 and older with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, who no longer attend school and still need the support of the community to thrive to their fullest potential. They must able to adhere to the following guidelines:
-
must be independent and requires no assistance in toileting and personal hygiene.
-
must NOT demonstrate aggressive behaviors such as, punching, kicking, biting, grabbing others, throwing objects, and/or being destructive.
-
must NOT run away/risk of flight/elope especially in off campus community settings.
-
must NOT touch other inappropriately
-
must be able to engage in group settings and activities in the community without incident
Will you provide transportation?
No, we will not provide transportation to or from our programs at this time, but hope to resume doing so in the future. Transportation scheduling and any related fees (gas or STS fare, or private transportation, etc.) is the responsibility of the individual and/or their support network (parent/guardian). All drop offs must be between 9:00 & 9:30am and pick-ups between 3:30 & 4:00pm.
Are you certified to accept Medicaid?
No, not at this time. It is our desire to serve all those who are interested in our program, but RIGHT NOW we can only serve those who have the financial ability to pay for our program personally.
Why do you charge a one-time enrollment Fee?
Charging a one-time enrollment fee is a good way to ensure that participants who sign up will actually be committed to attending the program. This fee is nonrefundable and will not be charged again, as long as the participant does not forgo our program for more than 12 months. If this is to happen, the participant will have to restart the enrollment process, including being charged the one-time enrollment fee in order to attend our program again.
